im Griggs has been involved in photography at the professional level since 1974, including work on commercial and industrial photography assignments, weddings, portraits and editorial photography. His photography has been published by National Geographic, Africa Geographic, The Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, Shutterbug, Wyoming Wildlife, Kiplinger’s Retirement Magazine, and many others including books, calendars, newspapers and brochures as well as several museum displays around the country. For eleven years he was an instructor at Wilderness Photography Workshops in Wyoming and Colorado.
Jim is President of the Great Plains Nature Photographers. He is especially proud of his images, which have been published by the Sierra Club and the Nature Conservancy showcasing the great plains of the US and his work as assistant to Jim Richardson of National Geographic as an assistant during his Flint Hills of Kansas assignment.

His love for the vast open stretches found here has translated to an equal love for the savanna of East Africa, namely the Serengeti, where he has been traveling since 2001. Jim has acquired an understanding of the terrain, the wildlife and the intricacies of photography in this wild and exciting locale.
He has recently become “mildly” addicted to bird photography. Peru and East Africa certainly makes for some of the most exciting and beautiful avian opportunities in the world. Jim leads Nature/Photography journeys to Peru and Tanzania. Jim will be leading photography trips to Tanzania, Scotland and Peru in 2014, 2015 and 2018.
Jim has acquired an understanding of the terrain, the wildlife and the intricacies of photography in this wild and exciting locale.
