
Bob Gress

Bob Gress is a biologist, naturalist, photographer, and birder. He holds an M.S. in environmental biology from Emporia State University and is a former director of the Great Plains Nature Center (GPNC) in Wichita, KS. Bob was the founding editor for the popular pocket guide series published by the GPNC. His preferred photo subjects are birds and mammals and over 4,600 of his photos have appeared in a wide variety of publications including most major nature magazines and more than 60 books.

He has coauthored: Birds of Kansas, The Guide to Kansas Birds and Birding Hot Spots, and Faces of the Great Plains: Prairie Wildlife. Bob was a major contributor of photos to The Smithsonian Book of North American Mammals and The Guide to Colorado Mammals. Bob leads Nature/Birding Photography journeys to Tanzania, Peru and Brazil. In 2018 Bob was part of the Mondo Verde Expeditions team involved in the conservation photography workshop (Saving the Planet one Image at the Time) for guides working in the rainforest of Peru together with Mario Corvetto and award- winning photographer, Boyd Norton.
